Chris Brown Charged With Grievous Bodily Harm After London Nightclub Incident.
US R&B singer Chris Brown has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent, the Metropolitan Police has confirmed. The charge stems from an alleged assault that reportedly took place at a nightclub in central London on 19 February 2023.
The 36-year-old was arrested at a Manchester hotel in the early hours of Thursday morning after flying into the UK on a private jet via Manchester Airport the day before. He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
In a statement, Adele Kelly, Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS London North, said: “We have authorised the Metropolitan Police to charge Chris Brown with one count of grievous bodily harm, contrary to section 18 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861.”
She added: “Criminal proceedings against this defendant are active, and he has the right to a fair trial.”

The singer, who is currently on tour, is booked to perform at several UK venues in June and July.
This is not Brown’s first brush with the law over violent behaviour. He infamously assaulted pop star Rihanna, his then-girlfriend, in 2009—an incident that left her visibly injured and led to Brown pleading guilty to felony assault. That attack drew global outrage and severely damaged his public image, though his career later recovered commercially.
Since then, Brown has faced multiple accusations and legal issues related to violence, including incidents involving fans, fellow artists, and security staff. The latest charge adds to a troubling history of aggression that continues to shadow his career.
Chris Brown’s latest arrest is yet another disturbing chapter in a long pattern of violent behaviour. Despite previous convictions and public backlash, he appears to remain entangled in serious legal trouble. While everyone has the right to a fair trial, his repeated run-ins with the law raise serious concerns about accountability and the continued support he receives in the entertainment industry. Fans and promoters must ask hard questions about the values they endorse when individuals with a record of violence remain in the spotlight.
