The former Late Late Show host purchased the sprawling estate in 2023 after returning to the UK following eight years in Los Angeles. Corden had ambitious plans: demolish the existing 1960s structure and replace it with a state-of-the-art, six-bedroom modern home complete with a swimming pool and spa. In January 2024, following a prolonged battle with the local council and English Heritage, he was granted permission to move forward with the project.
But by mid-2025, Templecombe House is in ruins.

Recent images reveal a grim reality: shattered windows, overgrown grounds, debris-strewn floors, and a swimming pool filled with dirt and algae. The property has clearly been invaded by vandals and left to decay, despite the multimillion-dollar investment.
Locals have voiced their discontent over what they see as neglect and privilege disconnected from community values.
“He should live in it or sell it so a family can live in it. It’s shameful,” said one landlady from nearby Wargrave.
Others say Corden stirred up local controversy to push through his plans — only to abandon the site and disappear. After securing approval for his renovations, the actor returned to the U.S. for a 17-week Broadway run, leaving behind not just bricks and mortar, but also mounting local frustration.

There are deeper financial and logistical issues, too. Transforming the property wasn’t going to be easy. The estate required costly archaeological surveys and had to meet strict environmental protections due to surrounding wildlife and historical remains.
