Winning the race to rent
Rental properties are hard to catch and recently the competition has become fiercer as Zoopla report that listed rental properties only remain available for 25 days on average. The high demand coupled with the lack of available properties is forcing tenants to move quickly.
3 things you need to do to win the race
Be clear about what you want
Have a clear idea and list of what you need from a property e.g. a parking space or a working space. This way the process can be quicker ad as soon as you view the property that ticks your priority boxes you can apply then and there.
Have your references and contacts ready
When you rent a property the landlord will often request references from past landlords or employers. It will be helpful to request these early to keep hold of so you can be prepared for this step. This means you won’t be delayed whilst waiting for the required references.
Make sure you have saved enough for the holding fee and deposit
Many rental properties will require a deposit, which is usually around the cost of the first months rent. On top of this they could ask for a holding fee of about the a week’s rent, this will hold your place and the property will not be able to be let once you pay this.
