Emma Stone Lists Renovated Historic Austin Estate for $26.5 Million.

Oscar-winning actress Emma Stone is parting ways with her freshly restored Austin, Texas estate, putting the property on the market for an impressive $26.5 million. Purchased in 2021 with the intention of relocating her family, Stone ultimately decided not to make the move, according to listing agent Eric Moreland of Moreland Properties/Forbes Global Properties.

The historic estate, located in the coveted Tarrytown neighborhood, is set on 1.25 acres and is one of the most exclusive listings currently available in the Austin market. Dating back to around 1940, the Georgian-style brick home is among the oldest and most architecturally rich properties in the area. The estate spans approximately 10,000 square feet and features a four-bedroom main residence, a two-bedroom guesthouse, a pool, hot tub, and a detached garage with a screening room and entertainment loft.

Stone and her husband, writer-director Dave McCary, spent more than three years meticulously restoring and modernizing the property. “It took more than a year just to install the millwork in the screening room,” said Moreland, underscoring the level of craftsmanship throughout the estate. The couple removed, cleaned, and reinstalled the original brick, preserving its historic character while updating key areas like the kitchen, which was opened to the living space for a more contemporary flow.

Although they envisioned Austin as a future home base, Moreland noted that “the couple’s New York business interests have expanded since they started the remodel, and while they hope to live in Austin eventually, it doesn’t make sense for now.”

The couple, co-founders of the production company Fruit Tree, currently reside in a $12 million Manhattan apartment, as per property records. Stone, who will next be seen in the modern Western Eddington, continues to balance a booming career with savvy real estate moves. She’s developed a reputation for elevating and reselling her properties at a profit: In 2022, she sold her Malibu blufftop home for $4.425 million (after buying it for $3.25 million), and last year offloaded her Comstock Hills residence in L.A. for $4.3 million, nearly doubling her 2019 purchase price.

Austin, once a magnet for coastal relocations during the pandemic, has seen some residents return to New York and California. Still, the high-end market remains strong. “The market has come down to earth a little bit,” said Moreland, “but we’ve seen a number of $20 million-plus deals in recent months.”

Moreland and Diane Humphreys are co-listing the home.
