HIG Capital has added Tim Hsu and Chris Todisco to its Capital Formation Group as managing directors, placing each in a distinct geography to lead credit fundraising with institutional investors across the U.S. The appointments were announced Aug. 17.

Hsu will be based in San Francisco, focused on West Coast institutions. He comes to HIG Capital from Oaktree Capital Management, where he directed capital formation efforts across the western U.S., and previously worked on BlackRock's Institutional Business Development team. He brings more than 17 years of experience in institutional investment management and private markets.

Todisco takes the equivalent role in New York. He arrives from Schroders Capital, where he led credit fundraising across direct lending, asset-based lending, structured credit, and broadly syndicated loans. Before Schroders, he spent seven years at First Eagle Investments building its alternative credit platform after First Eagle's acquisition of THL Credit.

HIG Capital's Credit Platform and the Logic Behind the Hires

Jordan Peer Griffin, Executive Managing Director and Global Head of the Capital Formation Group, framed the additions as a direct investment in the firm's credit relationships with institutional allocators. "Their extensive experience across private credit strategies, combined with their longstanding relationships with institutional investors, will further strengthen our team," Griffin said. "Tim and Chris bring complementary expertise and regional coverage that will enhance our partnerships with investors and support the continued growth of H.I.G.'s credit platform."

George Webster, Managing Director and Head of North America Partner Advisory, added: "They each bring deep institutional relationships and credit expertise that will enhance our ability to serve investors across the country. Their addition reflects our continued investment in our Capital Formation team as we expand our credit platform."

HIG Capital's credit operations span direct lending, special situations, and structured finance. The firm also manages WhiteHorse Finance, a publicly traded business development company. Earlier this year, HIG closed its fourth European private equity fund at €1.6 billion — an oversubscribed first and final close completed within six months of launch — drawing commitments from pension funds, endowments, sovereign wealth funds, family offices, and asset managers across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

A Pattern of Team Growth Under CEO Brian Schwartz

The Hsu and Todisco appointments are part of a broader personnel expansion HIG Capital has pursued since Brian Schwartz became chief executive officer in April. Schwartz took the role after co-founders Sami Mnaymneh and Tony Tamer, who built the firm from a single Miami office in 1993, both moved to executive chairman positions. Mnaymneh, who served as CEO from the firm's founding and directed its growth into a $75 billion platform, retains a seat on HIG Capital's investment committees alongside Tamer.

Other additions made during this period include Clark Jeffries as global head of insurance in March, a private wealth distribution team added in May, and Antonin Marcus joining the European middle market private equity team in Paris. Carlos Couret was named head of the lower-middle-market private equity practice in Spain in June.

HIG Capital was co-founded in 1993 by Sami Mnaymneh, who serves as Founder and Executive Chairman, and Tony Tamer, who also serves as Founder and Executive Chairman. The firm manages $75 billion across private equity, credit, real estate, and infrastructure from 18 offices spanning nine countries.
