Rudy Giuliani Puts His Upper East Side New York Apartment Up For Sale After Settlement.
It’s been a tumultuous few years for Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City, who has been embroiled in legal battles following his claims about the 2020 presidential election. After being ordered by a judge to pay a staggering $148 million settlement to two election workers he defamed, Giuliani recently shared that he had "reached a resolution" with the plaintiffs.

In doing so, he managed to retain both his Upper East Side apartment in New York City and his Florida home. Now, he's putting his iconic New York City penthouse back on the market with an asking price of nearly $5.2 million.

This listing marks a significant turn from October of last year when Giuliani was ordered to forfeit the penthouse as part of the settlement. The asking price for the apartment has also seen a decline from previous listings, as it was initially listed at $6.5 million in July 2023. The price was later reduced to $5.18 million, and now it stands at $5.2 million in the latest listing.

The spacious three-bedroom, three-bathroom penthouse is located in one of Manhattan's most coveted neighborhoods. The apartment boasts an expansive primary suite that was originally two separate bedrooms and a bath, offering a grand living space. Additional features include a cozy library with a fireplace and a glassed-in conservatory. The building itself provides luxurious amenities, including 24/7 door attendants and porters. However, for all these perks, the monthly maintenance fee is a hefty $10,719.

The apartment has recently been embroiled in controversy regarding its contents. A few months ago, as Giuliani was preparing to transfer ownership of the penthouse in connection to the defamation settlement, the plaintiffs accused him of "emptying" the apartment in violation of their agreement. Their attorney issued an open letter describing the situation:

"Save for some rugs, a dining room table, some stray pieces of small furniture and inexpensive wall art, and a handful of smaller items like dishes and stereo equipment, the Apartment has been emptied of all of its contents."

Now that Giuliani's legal struggles appear to be behind him, he is free to sell his longstanding New York City residence. As he looks to liquidate the property, the sale is likely a move to secure some much-needed cash in the wake of his legal troubles.
