Public health officials in Southern California confirmed that a person with a confirmed case of measles traveled through Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and then spent a full day at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, potentially exposing thousands of travelers and park visitors to the virus in late January.

The infected individual, described as an international traveler, arrived at LAX on Monday, January 26 and was infectious during their time at the airport and later that same week at Disneyland.

Officials identified specific time windows when people may have been exposed — including hours at Goofy’s Kitchen and throughout both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park on Wednesday, January 28.

This is at least the second confirmed measles case in Orange County this year, and it comes amid a broader rise in measles cases across California and the United States.

Health authorities are still working to identify additional exposure sites and notify individuals who could be at risk.

Health officials are urging anyone who was at those locations during the identified windows to monitor themselves closely for symptoms — which can appear 7–21 days after exposure — and to check their immunity status, especially if they have not had measles or the MMR vaccine within recent years.

Public health data also indicate that measles cases nationwide are at a multi-year high, with outbreaks reported in several states and linked to international travel and lower vaccination rates in some communities.
