Phillip Schofield’s three-decade career in broadcasting has made him one of the UK’s most recognisable television figures, and a very wealthy one at that. Despite a dramatic and public departure from ITV in 2023, the 62-year-old presenter retains a fortune estimated at $12 million (around £9 million).

Best known for co-hosting This Morning for 21 years, first with Fern Britton and later alongside Holly Willoughby, Schofield was once a fixture in millions of households. His warm manner, quick wit and ability to navigate both light-hearted and sensitive topics cemented his position as a cornerstone of British daytime TV. At the peak of his career on the show, he commanded a salary of £700,000 a year, a testament to his commercial value for the network.

Born in Oldham, Lancashire, and raised in Cornwall, Schofield’s broadcasting career began humbly as a teenage hospital radio DJ. His professional break came in New Zealand in 1982, hosting the music programme Shazam!, before returning to the UK to become the Children’s BBC’s first in-vision continuity presenter. By the late 1980s, he was a household name thanks to Going Live!, a Saturday morning favourite among young viewers.

His career diversified over the years, spanning primetime hits such as Dancing on Ice and The Cube, as well as acclaimed stage roles, including the lead in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. These projects, alongside advertising campaigns for brands like We Buy Any Car, significantly boosted his income streams.

Schofield’s 2023 exit from ITV was mired in controversy following his admission that he had lied about an affair with a younger colleague. This Morning and Dancing on Ice lost one of their longest-serving faces almost overnight. Yet financially, his fortunes remained intact, which helped by a Channel 5 Cast Away series as referenced by Heart Bingo. Accounts for his company, Fistral Productions, reveal a healthy increase in liquid assets from £847,034 in late 2022 to £1.23 million a year later. Overall, the business is valued at more than £2.1 million, with his former wife Stephanie Lowe still serving as co-director.

Remarkably, Schofield earned an additional £400,000 in the year after stepping away from the limelight. While he has kept a low public profile, posting only once on Instagram in the past year, his financial portfolio appears unaffected by his absence from television. His single post, a photo of his dog watching Formula 1, drew tens of thousands of likes, a testament to the enduring interest in his life.

There are exciting rumours of a potential television comeback, reportedly encouraged by friends in the industry such as Declan Donnelly. While no decision has been confirmed, offers are said to be on the table. Whether he returns to screens or not, Schofield’s brand and bank balance remain formidable, sparking hope and anticipation among his fans.

Beyond entertainment, Schofield is also recognised for his charitable commitments, including his patronage of The Children’s Trust. His career may have taken a sudden turn, but his financial stability suggests he has successfully translated years of television success into lasting wealth. For now, Phillip Schofield remains one of Britain’s most financially secure television personalities, even without a regular slot on the small screen, providing a sense of reassurance and confidence to his fans.
